Vienna Votes: Town Has One New Mayor, Two New Council Members and One Re-elected Council Member

Town sees 16.2 percent turnout Tuesday.

Vienna voters came out Tuesday and voted for a new mayor, two new council members and re-elected one council member.

Laurie A. DiRocco was elected Mayor of the Town of Vienna. DiRocco has been serving as Mayor since April 8, when she was appointed by the Vienna Town Council to fulfill the unexpired term of the late Mayor M. Jane Seeman. The unexpired term ends on June 30.  

Three Councilmembers were chosen in Tuesday's election.
  
Incumbent Edythe Frankel Kelleher was re-elected. Kelleher has served on the Vienna Town Council since 2002.

Newly elected members are Pasha M. Majdi and Linda Jane Colbert.  

Unofficial Vote Totals: 

  • Mayor Laurie DiRocco: 1,594  
  • Mike Cheselka: 483;
  • Linda Jane Colbert: 1,023;
  • Edythe Frankel Kelleher: 1,146;
  • Pasha Majdi: 1,089;
  • Dennis Rice: 466;
  • Tara Voigt: 732  

Out of 10,996 registered voters, 1,782 voted, a 16.21 percent voter turnout.  

Election results become official upon certification by the Fairfax County Electoral Board, which administers elections for the Town of Vienna. The Mayor and Town Council members will begin their new two-year terms on July 1, 2014.
