How Did Vienna Vote for Virginia Governor?

A precinct by precinct breakdown of governor's race votes in the Vienna area.

Virginia elected Terry McAuliffe governor Tuesday, giving him 47.74 percent of the vote to Ken Cuccinelli's 45.28 percent and Robert Sarvis' 6.52 percent.

McAuliffe beat Cuccinelli by 54,689 votes.

McAuliffe received 58.27 percent of the vote in Fairfax County (scooping up 176,092 votes) to Cuccinelli's 36.26 percent and Sarvis' 5.16 percent.

Governor's Race in Vienna
Hunter Mill District, which includes Vienna, cast more votes for McAuliffe than any other district in Fairfax County, coming in at 22,398 votes. Springfield District in Fairfax County cast the most votes for Ken Cuccinelli: 15,966. Hunter Mill District also cast the most votes for Libertarian Robert Sarvis: 2,020

McAuliffe got the most support in the Vienna area from voters at the Kilmer Middle School precinct, where he got 64.24 percent of the vote.

Cuccinelli saw the most support in the Vienna area from the Colvin precinct, where he beat McAuliffe 46.85 to 46.49 percent of the votes.

35th District House of Delegates Race
Hunter Mill voted for incumbent Del. Mark Keam (D) 3,631, giving Republican challenger Leiann Luse 1,860 votes. (Keam got a big boost from the Providence District, with 8,895 votes and Luse about half that there.)

34th District House of Delegates Race
If it had been up to Hunter Mill District, challenger Kathleen Murphy would be the winner today. In the white-hot race between Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock vs. Democratic challenger Kathleen Murphy, Hunter Mill was as narrowly split as the vote, giving Comstock 2,235 votes and Murphy 2,288 votes. Comstock won in the wee hours Tuesday night, by 400 votes.

Sheriff's Race
Hunter Mill voted resoundingly for Fairfax County's first female sheriff, Stacey Kincaid, giving her 19,379 votes and giving her main challenger Bryan Wolfe 11,787 votes.

School Bond 
On the school bond question, which will help at least two Vienna schools, the Hunter Mill District also sided with victory, giving a thumbs up by 26,446, the most of any district. The Hunter Mill District voted "no" on the issue to the tune of 8,381 votes.

Voter Turnout
The Hunter Mill District saw a 49.4 percent voter turnout Tuesday. The average for the county was 46.8 percent.
