Start Celebrating Farmers Market Week at the Vienna Farmers Market!--August 3

It's Farmers Market week throughout Virginia and the United States from August 3 through August 10. Time to come out to your local market and buy the best in produce and celebrate in the best that nature has to offer. Say hi and be optimistic.

Join us on Saturday, August 3 at the Saturday Vienna Farmers Market located at 301 Center South in Vienna, Virginia from 8 am to noon as we kick off a celebration of Farmers Market Week in Virginia and across the United States.

This Saturday, TJ Michaels will be at the market to entertain the kids with balloon art (pending weather).  Also, nonprofit PRS INC. will be on hand to provide information about local community mental health support services options.

Next week, August 10, Friendly Hall Farms will be handing out balloons at their stand -- plus the fun continues as we host the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department -- who will be on hand to provide free blood pressure checks and disseminate information to our customers about our local community resources.

Because this is the start of Farmers  Market Week we want to highlight our local Gainesville producer  (Smith Family Farms) who has been operating the Smith Family Farm for over 100 years (that makes it a 5th generation farm). Smith Family Farm has been with the market since the Optimist Club started operating the market -- so we are particularly fond of the beef producers (and hay we started together).   See their information page at:  beefandhayproducer.com.

Their slogan is “our animals don’t do drugs,” and you can tell this from the quality and consistency of the meat. Smith sells grass fed beef, pork, and chicken. You can pre-order your Thanksgiving turkey from them. They also sell farm fresh brown eggs at the market. Located near Manassas Battlefield they regularly have family farm tours and welcome visits. Families from the market have told us they’ve had a blast. Just ask Leigh or one of her helpers about one of the regular scheduled visits that they plan each year! They make it fun for all. What is unique about Smith Family Farm is that you can take the ramp right up into the truck to pick out your prime cuts of meats from the freezers—additionally you’ll know it’s the best high grade meat available. You will also know that the seller raised the beef, cow, and pig right on their own farm in Gainesville.  It’s nice knowing where your food comes from/it ensures additional quality and comfort.
