This Weekend's Best Bets for Family Fun in Northern Virginia
Looking for family fun around Vienna and Northern Virginia this weekend? Check out how you can play with bugs, dive into a plate of pancakes, take flight or set sail!

Friday is creepy, crawly day!
Curiosity Zone is hosting its 6th Annual Big Bug Show from 3:30-5:30pm. Hands-on fun, a concert by Ryan Buckle and lots of games. Free admission. Bring a bug (living, in a cage or not-so-living, on display) and enter to win one of many contests.

That evening head over to Riverbend Park in Great Falls for their Touch Tank Campfire from 6:30-7:30pm. They will have lots of wiggly and squiggly animals on display. Bring a blanket, flashlight and toasting stick for smores. Come early, if you would like to picnic or roast hot dogs. $4 for each adult, pre-register to ensure your family's spot.

Begin your day with breakfast at the Vienna Fire Department's Pancake Breakfast. Firefighters serve pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee and juice and give tours of fire equipment starting at 8am. $8 for adults, $6 for children, Free for those under age 4. All proceeds go to the fire department.
After you are full of pancakes, head to the Town Green for Fitness Day. Wear your workout gear, free exercise classes. games for children and demonstrations will be offered.
Then head out of town....
Arlington Central Library has a Truck Petting Zoo, 9am-11am. Garbage trucks, cement mixers, motorcycles, frie trucks and more will be there.
Loudon County has their annual Spring Farm Tour. Meet an animal, tour a farm, or buy plants for your garden at one of the 40+ locations that are open from 10am-4pm.
If it gets hot, attend the Grand Opening of the New Spray Park at Lee District Park. The celebration begins at 3pm. Large crowds are expected, overflow parking will be available.
The 2001 Joint Service Open House and Airshow is Saturday and Sunday, 8am-5pm. The Thunderbirds and Golden Knights are featured performers. Shuttle buses leave from FedEx Field and Branch Ave Metro Station, but they stop running at 1pm. Plan accordingly! (Also, bring tons of sunscreen it is very easy to get sunburned on the tarmac!)

Set sail at the Mill. Children 5 years and up can build and decorate a wooden sailboat and then test it out in the mini-lake at Colvin Run Mill. Pre-register by calling 703-759-2771.
Go strawberry picking! The strawberries at their peak right now and taste delicious.
