Vienna has a green housing initiative, which recognizes those building or living in homes that use "geothermal heating and cooling, solar heat collectors and grid-connected photovoltaic panels or shingles," or other initiatives that significantly reduce the amount of energy or waste produced each year.

Every April, the town also hosts a Green Expo, where schools, businesses and homeowners show off their most recent projects and programs.
