Vienna Farmers Market Will Move to New Location

Yes, there will be a Vienna Farmers Market — just not where you think.

Vienna's Farmers Market is still planning to offer fresh produce, herbs, pastries, coffee, seafood and meat this summer, but not from its iconic location in the parking lot near the Caboose on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail.

Instead, the market will open May 4 on Center Street in the parking lot of the Faith Baptist Church — right near Water and Caffi fields, the Vienna Fire Station, Town Hall, Vienna Elementary School and the Vienna Police Station.

Market Manager Sarah Brady said the market, supported by the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, learned recently the market's former space off of Church Street wouldn't be available for the 2013 season.

In a Patch blog post, she detailed the search process, writing, " we are sad that our caboose lot location at Church Street is no longer available – but we are very excited about our new larger space on Center Street."

Among the benefits: more parking, and a larger area for tents and tables, which means the market will be able to bring on more vendors this year, including local coffee shop Caffe Amouri.

The market kicks off at 8 a.m. May 4.
