Chic Done Cheap Holiday Traditions

The holidays don't start without some of my favorite Chic Done Cheap Holiday Traditions.

With the holidays come long lines at the mall, hours traveling and "festive" holiday sweaters. But it's not all bad; for me, the holidays don't start without some of my favorite annual traditions. Every year around the holidays, the boy and I plan a Christmas date, something to get us into the holiday spirit. Check out some of our recent dates to get you in the holiday spirit (for cheap!). Be sure to drink some hot cocoa for me.

The National Harbor & the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center

Two years ago we visited National Harbor and the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center, bundled up to walk around and experience the winter wonderland and glass Christmas tree. The Gaylord knows how to decorate for the holiday! Visit their website for more information on holiday events.

The National Zoo

Last year we explored the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. Most of the animals were snoozing but it was fun to walk around the park while it was snowing and see the light displays set to music. Depending on the night you choose, it could feel like you have the park to yourself!  Check out their website for times and dates; best part? It's free!

7th Annual Downtown Holiday Market

Looking forward to grabbing some hot cocoa and wandering the stalls, finding treasures and crafts. The downtown market hosts over 60 artisans and crafters as well as seasonal shows and music. Hopefully we'll be able to pick up some Christmas presents while strolling along!

The National Christmas Tree

Another Holiday tradition I love is heading downtown to see the National Christmas Tree with my best friend. This year we got tickets through the National Park Service's lottery and we attended the lighting on December 1st! Even if you don't have tickets to the lighting ceremony, be sure to check it out, it's free and totally chic.
