15U Hitmen Win Dog Days of Summer Baseball Tournament

The 15U Hitmen baseball team won the USSSA Dog Days of Summer tournament on 6/15, besting a 12 team field.  The Hitmen earned the #1 seed and a bye in the first round of knockout play after defeating both of their pool play opponents, only allowing 1 run.  The Hitmen went up against the Virginia Stars in the semifinals, and won 8-0 in a slaughter rule.  In the championship, the Hitmen faced the Hughesville Orioles.  Down 1-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, the Hitmen mounted a rally, capped by a walk off double from the bat of Chris Walton.  The Hitmen beat the Orioles 2-1, winning the championship.  For the weekend, the Hitmen outscored their opponents 25-1.  The team’s roster includes: Kevin McCarthy, Henry LeVasseur, Chris Walton, Brenden Mabus, Daniel Gerke, Will Liverpool, Ethan Roth, Matt Poyner, Jake Abruzzi, Nathan Bass, James Delaney, Drew Posner, Elias Gibson, Brendan Grammes, and Jack Slade.   The Hitmen are coached by Michael Yauss and Joe Harvey.
