UPDATED: Body Found in Car off Chain Bridge Road

Man's injuries "may not have been caused by the crash," police said.

Update 11:09 a.m.: Fairfax County Police say the man found dead Friday night in a car off Chain Bridge Road may not have died from injuries caused by a crash.

In a statement Saturday morning, police said an officer discovered a minivan crashed into a barrier at the end of a service road around 7 p.m. Friday off of Chain Bridge Road near Glengyle Drive.

After calling for rescue personnel, and determining the driver was dead, officers found evidence suggesting "the driver's injuries may not have been caused by the crash."

The driver was identified as a 19-year-old man from the Gainesville area. The cause of death is not clear, officials said. An autopsy is being performed by the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine how exactly the man died. 

Detectives and crime scene investigators are investigating the incident as “suspicious" and determining whether criminal activity is involved, according to the police statement.

Original 9:16 a.m.: Fairfax County Police discovered a body in a car late Friday night off of Chain Bridge Road.

A spokesperson in dispatch confirmed a car had crashed in Vienna near Glengyle Drive and officers discovered a body inside, but more details were not readily available.
