Bragging Criminal, Hood Ornament Theft and Other Incidents

Highlights of reports from the Vienna Police Department logs.

The following are highlights from the Town of Vienna police logs from Sept. 20 – 26. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 12 – Sept. 26, 200 Battle St. SW: A resident reported that someone had taken the air conditioning unit from her home that is currently under construction.

10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sept. 22, 300 block of Maple Ave. W: A citizen reported that when she returned to her legally parked vehicle she discovered someone had taken the hood ornament.

12:11 a.m. Sept. 27, 500 block of Maple Ave. W: Officer Kiley was on patrol when he observed an individual urinating in the parking lot. Upon approaching the individual, Officer Kiley determined he was intoxicated. He arrested a man, 51, of no fixed address, for drunk in public. The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

2:05 a.m. Sept. 27, 300 block of Maple Ave. E: A citizen reported that an individual was in the area attempting to instigate a fight and may have been intoxicated. MPO Shaw responded and located the individual. Upon his interaction with the individual he determined he was intoxicated and arrested a man, 32, of Vienna for drunk in public. The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

8:13 p.m. Sept. 27, 100 block of Kingsley Road SE: The owner of a home, under construction, reported that someone had thrown a brick at a front window causing it to break. The home owner requested that extra patrols be conducted in the area.

1:27 a.m. Sept. 28, 200 block of Locust St. SE: A resident reported that a female had been in the lobby and was creating a disturbance. MPO Seitz responded and located the female. After his interaction he determined she did not live in the building and she was intoxicated. MPO Seitz arrested an Arlington woman for drunk in public. After placing the woman under arrest for the drunk in public charge, MPO Seitz discovered that a failure to appear warrant had been issued for the woman. The woman was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was held on a $3901.00 bond for both the drunk in public and failure to appear charges.

1:18 a.m. Sept. 29, 300 block of Maple Ave. E: An employee reported that a man and woman had entered the store and the woman attempted to abscond with merchandise she had not paid for. The employee stated he did not wish to pursue charges however he did want the man and woman to be told to leave and never return to the store. Both individuals agreed to comply with the employee’s wishes.

5:52 p.m. Oct. 1, 200 block of Maple Ave. E: A resident reported that an individual had approached him and asked to bum a cigarette. The individual then began to inform the resident of illegal activity he had been involved in. The illegal activity was believed to have taken place in the Town of Vienna. The individual left the area prior to the arrival of the police officer.

8:28 p.m. Oct. 1, Broadleaf Drive and Glyndon Street NE:

A resident reported that a male and female had been in the area soliciting the sale of newspapers. MPO Sheeran responded and located the individuals who stated they were selling the newspapers in an attempt to earn money for college. MPO Sheeran informed them of the need to possess a Town of Vienna Solicitation Permit if they wished to continue. They agreed to cease solicitations until they were able to obtain the proper permits.

1 a.m. Oct. 2, 200 block of Maple Ave. E: A citizen reported that an individual was standing in front of the store and appeared to be intoxicated. MPO Sheeran responded and located the individual. After his interaction it was apparent the individual was intoxicated. MPO Sheeran arrested a 32-year-old Vienna man for drunk in public. The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Oct. 2, 300 block of Nutley St. NW: A resident reported that his child’s Mongoose brand bicycle had been stolen from an elementary school.

7:26 p.m. Oct. 2, 500 block of Stephen Circle SW: A resident reported he had been contacted by his bank and informed of several suspicious charges that had been made using his credit card. The resident stated the charges had been made without his knowledge. This case is being investigated.
