Car Crashes Into Pole At Beulah Road and Nelson Drive

Police on scene, accident closes one lane

Update: 3:31 p.m.: Beulah Road is now open.

Update 9:13 a.m.: Police say the driver has been charged with reckless driving.

Update 8:20 a.m.: Beulah Road is now completely closed between Broadleaf Drive and Ayrhill Avenue, Police say. Creek Crossing Road at Beulah Road is also closed.

Drivers heading south on Beulah Road should detour onto Broadleaf Drive. Drivers heading northbound on Beulah Road should deoutr onto Ayrhill Avenue.

Update 7:28 a.m: Dominion Power has been called to the scene to repair the pole.

Update 7:16 a.m.: The pole at the intersection was severed in half from the crash, Police say.

The car was traveling southbound on Beulah Road when it struck the pole.

The airbags were deployed and the driver was not injured, Police said.

7:08 a.m.: Vienna Police responded to the intersection of Beulah Road and Nelson Drive N.E. after a car crashed into a pole early Friday morning.

The accident happened before 6:50 a.m. Officer Bill Murray said one lane would be closed for an undetermined amount of time because of the crash. Commuters should seek an alternate route.
