Fairfax County Police Log: Sept. 20-26

A summary of the latest Vienna incidents, arrests reported

Editor’s Note: Incident information was obtained from the Activity Report provided by Fairfax County Police Department’s Public Information Office. The incidents included are at the discretion of the PIO and are not to be considered all-inclusive.

Fairfax County Police logged the following incidents in the Vienna area during the week ending Sept. 25:

  • Larceny, 8700 block of Cedar Meadow Court, power tools from vehicle
  • Larceny, 1900 block of Contralto Court, bicycle from business
  • Larceny, 3000 block of Gallows Road, tires from business
  • Larceny, 8100 block of Leesburg Pike, wallet from business
  • Larceny, 8400 block of Old Courthouse Road, driver license from business
  • Larceny, 8100 block of Tysons Corner Center, merchandise from business

Animal Control Division — Countywide

Animal Bite: 8500 block of Gwynedd Way, 9/20/12, 9 a.m. The victim was at a school bus stop. Another child and her parent where present with their 18-month-old Pit Bull Terrier. For unknown reasons the dog lunged and apparently bit the 6-year-old victim. She was transported with non life-threatening injuries. The dog was voluntarily turned over to an Animal Control officer and tested for rabies. The results were negative.

Animal Bite: 2100 block of Waltonway Road, 9/22/12, 1 p.m. An 8-year-old girl was petting a stray cat in her back yard. It bit her and ran away. The cat was trapped later that night and is quarantined at the animal shelter.

Animal Service: 7900 block of Fitzroy Street, 9/23/12, 1:15 p.m. Animal Control officers were called to assist in recovering birds after the home owner died. One parrot, one cockatiel and 76 love birds were impounded. Only five of the birds appeared to have any injury. All the birds will be examined.

Animal Bite: 9800 block of East Hill Drive, 9/23/12, 1:45 p.m. A 7-year-old boy was bit by a stray cat in the back yard. The cat had been in the area for several days and Animal Control officers were able to capture it. The young black tabby is being held for quarantine.

Animal Cruelty: 5700 block of Magnolia Lane, 9/26/12, 4:15 p.m. Animal Control officers were called for a Pit Bull Terrier which appeared to be mistreated. The officers found the dog without food or shelter and extremely underweight. Jesse Williams, 28, of Falls Church, was charged with cruelty to animals and as an unfit owner. The dog was impounded and treated by a veterinarian.
