Smoking Roaster: Vienna Fire Department Helps Avert Fire at Caffe Amouri

The Church Street coffee shop remained open after Thursday morning incident.

Caffe Amouri on Church Street in Vienna had some interesting customers Thursday morning: the fire department.

The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department stopped by the local coffee shop during mid-morning hours when smoldering embers from the restaurant's roaster began creating smoke in the dining area.

Caffe Amouri owner Michael Amouri said the fire department and restaurant staff turned off the roaster, took it apart and waited for the smoke to subside. Amouri added that the fire department was gone within 15 minutes and that the restaurant never closed as a result of the incident.
