Five Charged With Buying Alcohol For Minors From Vienna Area 7-Elevens
Fairfax County Police "shoulder tap" initiative on Tuesday targeted stores in Vienna/Tysons areas
Five adults were arrested Tuesday after buying alcohol for Fairfax County Police cadets posing as minors outside Vienna/Tysons-area 7-Elevens.
Fifty-one adults were approached in the "shoulder tap" effort, part of the department's youth alcohol and business compliance checks. Fairfax County Police Department cadets approached adults in parking lots of stores with Virginia ABC licenses, asking them to buy alcohol for them. If the adults asked how old they were, the cadets gave them their real age, the department said.
Of those approached, five adults proceeded with buying alcohol for the cadets. They were then approached and charged by a plain-clothes police officer.

Last month, Fairfax County Police conducted a similar alcohol compliance sting of stores in Vienna, McLean and Falls Church, sending cadets in without IDs to buy alcohol. , but all businesses checked by undercover cadets in Vienna came up clean.
