Hazmat Responds to Oil Spill in Tysons Plaza

Update: The spill was controlled shortly after 9 p.m.

Original 4/12/12 8:38 p.m.: A truck leaking oil in the Tysons Plaza shopping center is not interfering with traffic on nearby Leesburg Pike, a Fairfax County dispatcher said.

The county's hazmat units are en route to the scene, the dispatcher said around 8:30 p.m. The incident happened in the 8300 block of Leesburg Pike.

The shopping center is home to Panera Bread, Gold's Gym, TJ Maxx and Starbucks.

First responders will lay down absorbents in an attempt to stop the leak, the dispatcher said.
