Residents will see a live fire along Park Street on Monday, as the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will set a controlled fire for training purposes.
The training, which the community is invited to view, will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at a vacant building on 928 Park St. SE.
"This 'hands-on' training is the most valuable and realistic training that we can provide to our uniformed members and it could not take place without the support from Mayor Seeman’s’ office as well as the community we serve," Lt. Tom Griffin, a training officer with Fire and Rescue, wrote in a statement.
