Lost Your Bike? Vienna Police May Have It

Officers look for owners of recovered bicycles

If you've lost your bicycle in the past few months, you may be in luck.

Vienna Police say they've accumulated a number of recovered, but unclaimed, bicycles, typically found by a citizen or abandoned in town. After they were processed by an officer, they were stored at Vienna Police Headquarters, where they've remained.

Owners  or others reporting stolen bikes often don't know the serial number on their bicycle, or, haven't registered it with police, so it can't be entered in a recovery database, police said, which means they can't track down many owners when their bikes are recovered.

Citizens who can prove ownership of a bicycle and would like to check to see if their bike is at police headquarters, contact Vienna Police Property Officer John Barker at jfbarker@viennava.gov or 703-255- 6377.
