National Night Out Events In and Around Vienna

Police and residents gather across Fairfax County on Tuesday for nationally-sponsored campaign

If an unusual amount of police and fire vehicles pull up to your neighborhood tonight, they may just be there to say hello.

Fairfax County police and fire departments are participating in National Night Out (NNO), an evening sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch where community and civic organizations, local police departments and residents take to the streets in a stand against violence and crime. Many groups order pizza or barbecue and discuss local issues, particularly pertaining to crime and crime prevention in their communities.

According to Fairfax County police, the goals of National Night Out are to strengthen community connections within neighborhoods and to heighten awareness of crime prevention issues.
