The driver, Macadolf Hoffman, 59, of Woodbridge, Va., was charged with the class one misdemeanor, MWAA spokesman Rob Yingling said.

Police have identified the passenger who died in the crash, but are attempting to notify the victim's family before releasing the identity, Yingling said. That passenger was ejected from the vehicle after it hit the jersey wall on the left side, Yingling said.

The van had picked up three passengers at Dulles Airport this morning and was headed eastbound when it crashed, Yingling said. It's not clear exactly where the van was headed.

Updated 11:14 a.m.: All eastbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road are now open. Police continue to investigate the crash, a MWAA spokeswoman said; no charges have been filed.

Update 9:49 a.m.: The Dulles Access Road remains closed and the SuperShuttle van remains in the left lane as officials continue to investigate the crash.

Several police vehicles are on scene, along with an ambulance and fire truck from the McLean station.

Traffic is moving slowly past the accident site on the Dulles Toll Road. After the Trap Road overpass, the backup clears and traffic resumes its normal speed.

Original 9:06 a.m.:One Dead In Fatal Accident On Dulles Access Road

One person is dead this morning after a blue SuperShuttle van crashed into a jersey barrier while traveling eastbound on Dulles Access Road.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson Rob Yingling said one passenger was dead on arrival, and another was taken to Fairfax Hospital for treatment. The driver and remaining passenger were uninjured.

The eastbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road at the accident scene near Trap Road are completely closed, and traffic is being diverted over to the Dulles Toll Road well ahead of the accident scene, Yingling said. There are four lanes open on the Dulles Toll Road, but traffic is still moving slowly because of morning rush hour, he said.

Yingling said the investigation is continuing and it's unclear what caused the crash. There have been no charges filed at this time, and  there is no estimate as to when the road will be reopened.
