Police Log: Dog Attack Kills Raccoon

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log through Jan. 30:

A woman reported between noon Jan. 1 and 5 p.m. Jan. 26, her daughter had opened up several credit card accounts, using her personal identification, without her permission. This case is being investigated. 

A woman reported she sold an item on eBay, but it was returned to her with damage that did not exist when it was sold. 

A woman reported at 6:43 p.m. Jan. 24 she had lost her wallet on Echols Street.

A school employee  at the Cedar Lane School reported at 8:20 a.m. Jan. 25 a detention order had been issued for a student. An officer responded and transported the student to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. 

A resident reported her boyfriend was in need of medical attention. Upon the arrival of the officers on the scene, no injured people could be located. Police were later informed the boyfriend had been taken to an area hospital by a friend. 

Police responded at 8:05 a.m.Jan. 29 to Capital Building Supply, 431 Mill Street NE, to assist with an employee that was in need of medical attention. The employee was transported, by members of the Fairfax County Emergency Medical Services, to an area hospital for treatment.  

A citizen reported at 12:45 p.m. Jan. 29 two dogs had attacked a raccoon in his front yard. He stated he did not know who owned the dogs. The town's animal control officer responded and, with the assistance of fellow police officers, was able to separate the dogs from the raccoon. The raccoon however could not be saved.The town's animal control officer was able to locate the address for the dogs and transported them back to their owner. The owner was then advised of the quarantine process. The town's animal control officer will follow up with this case. 

A resident reported at 9:12 p.m. Jan. 29 a cocker spaniel was wandering around in the neighborhood. Officer Digan responded and located the dog, which had no identification. The dog was transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter where it will be held until the owner can be identified. 

A citizen reported at 11 a.m. Jan. 30 a bicycle had been found in the bushes near the Vienna Town Hall. The bicycle is a Trek brand mountain bicycle. The bicycle will be held at the police station until the owner can be identified.
