Police Log: Elderly Woman Found Dead In Wolftrap Hotel

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An elderly woman was found dead in theWolftrap Hotel at 430 Maple Ave S.W. between June 16 and 18.

The woman had been under a doctor's care, Police said; there was not any evidence of foul play. A detective is following up on the case.

Around 7:28 a.m. June 17, Police responded to Walker Street S.W. for a domestic dispute that had become physical after a husband and wife had an argument.

The wife said she attempted to leave the house with their young child, but her husband stopped her and interfered when she tried to call 9-1-1 for help.

The 34-year-old husband was arrested for abduction and interfering with a 9-1-1 call. He was taken  the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held there without bond.

Other Highlights from June 17 to June 23:

  • A resident of Courthouse Road told Police on June 17 that someone continues to call him and tell him he's won a car, but in order to get it, he has to participate in a money exchange. When the resident refused, the caller threatened him.
  • When Police arrived at a Park Street N.E. residence at 5:39 p.m. June 17 to inform the homeowner that their vehicle was going to be towed by a private business, who reported it had been left on its property for days, they dissevered that nobody was home, and there was an open door. Police searched the home and couldn't find the residents.
  • A resident of Cottage Street S.W. reported around 5 p.m. June 17  that someone was outside his home, yelling anti-American and anti-government statements. Police found the man who was yelling and his mother and interviewed them both. The mother told Police her son suffers from a medical condition. When he was attempting to leave the home, and his mother did not want him to leave in his current state, he began damaging items inside the home and yelling both inside and outside the house. Police discussed options with the family.
  • Police responded to, 424 Maple Ave E., at 5:53 p.m. June 18 for a 9-1-1 call that was disconnected. Police discovered that a woman attempted to call 9-1-1 and her boyfriend, who came to see her while she was working and had taken some items from her, interfered and hung up the phone. The boyfriend left the area before Police arrived. Police discussed legal options with the woman.
  • Around 2:08 a.m. June 19, Police found a man inside the Town Green. After checking for any warrants, Police released the man with a verbal warning and he left the area without incident.
  • A set of keys were found at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Branch Road S.E. and turned into Police around 9:48 a.m. June 19. Police placed the keys into storage to await retrieval by the owner.
  • A Town of Vienna employee reported that someone had sprayed graffiti in Sarah Mercer Walker Park between noon June 20 and 7:28 a.m. June 21.
  • A mother on Kelley Street S.W. reported her daughter lost her ISN and SSN cards between noon June 20 and 10 a.m. June 21.
  • A husband, who is legally separated from his wife but owns a home with her on Wolftrap Road, came home to collect some of his items around 1:38 p.m. June 20 when he found a man unknown to him inside the house. The husband and the man began fighting and then had a physical altercation before the man fled. Police contacted the man, and gave him and the husband information about the warrant obtainment process.
  • While walking on Nutley Street before 8 p.m. June 20, a woman and her daughter said they were approached by a man from behind. He followed them closely and offered them a CD, but when they declined, he continued to follow them. The women walked to their home and called police.
  • When they responded to a domestic dispute around 9:37 p.m. June 20 on Glyndon Street, Police found that a husband had spit on his wife during an argument. The husband denied the allegation and said the spit was in her direction but did not actually hit her.
  • A citizen reported an abandoned bicycle at 8:59 a.m. June 21 at the intersection of Battle and Spring Streets S.E. The bike is being held until it is retrieved by its owner.
  • A property manager on Patrick Street reported that he was assaulted around noon on June 21 for no apparent reason while walking the grounds of the complex. Police found the suspect. After an investigation, they discovered the suspect had medical handicaps and was supposed to be supervised at all times, but left his home without permission while his brother was asleep. The suspect was returned to his brother and the property manager did not press charges.
  • A couple on Moorefield Hill Grove S.W. returned home on June 21 to find their front door unlocked, though they were certain they had locked the door before leaving. They searched the home and found someone had used the toilet and left the human waste in the bowl. It did not appear anything else was missing. Police said citizens should call Police if they find an unlocked door or window instead of searching themselves; an intruder could be extremely dangerous. 
  • Around 8:17 p.m. June 21, the parents of a teenage girl told Police a strange man was calling and texting their daughter. Police discovered the girl gave her phone number to a man unknown to her, who was driving through the neighborhood in a tan medical access van.The text messages and voicemails were unusual, Police said, but were not a criminal act. Police contacted the man, identified him and asked him to stop contacting the girl.
  • Police responded to a report of domestic dispute around 3:18 a.m. June 22 on Thelma Circle. A caller from the residence had called 9-1-1 and hung up. Police located the origin of the call and found that a mother and her teenage daughter were having an argument and one of the involved parties dialed 9-1-1. No criminal act was reported and the two were counseled by Police.
  • A Town of Vienna employee reported that someone had drawn on the restroom door and walls of the Town Green, between 7 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. June 22. The worker removed the writing.
  • A citizen reported that between 7 and 8:15 p.m. June 22, their unlocked bike was stolen from a bike rack near outside the Vienna Community Center near the W+OD Trail.

ARRESTS

A citizen called police around 8 p.m. June 18 when they noticed a driver on Glyndon Street S.E. that appeared to be intoxicated. Police located the vehicle and noticed signs of possible impairment.

After failing to perform field sobriety tests, Magdaleno Aguilar, 41, of Reston was arrested for driving while intoxicated.After a further investigation, Police discovered the driver was also involved in a hit and run crash earlier in the evening at the Cedar Lane Shopping Center.The driver failed to provide an adequate breath sample at Vienna Police Headquarters. He was taken to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and completed a blood test, and was then formally charged with hit and run and driving while intoxicated. The driver was held on $1,000 bond.

A concerned citizen reported an apparently intoxicated man around 12:22 p.m. June 19 in the Maple Avenue Shopping Center, in the 300 block of Maple Avenue S.E.

After an investigation, Police arrested John Timothy Mills, 55, of Vienna for drunk in public. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
