Police Log: Officer Breaks Up Party, Issues Citations

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vienna Police responded to a loud party complaint Aug. 26 and issued three citations after several people dispersed, police said.

Around 2:01 a.m. Aug. 26 on the 500 block of Highland Street NW, an officer observed several people standing around someone who appeared to be holding a smoking device. The group dispersed after noticing the officer, but three got into the vehicle next to them.

The officer detected the odor of alcohol and saw marijuana on the car's floorboard.

Taylor A. Sanford, 20, of Market Street in Reston, and Bilal H. Awan, 20, of Bronze Stone Place in Herndon, were cited with underage possession of alcohol.

Daquan T. Harvin, 21, of Terra Cotta Circle in Herndon was cited with possession of marijuana.

After signing the summonses, all three were released.

Other highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log, Aug. 24 to Aug. 30:

  • A resident on the 300 block of Westview Court NE reported he found his wife deceased in her bed Aug. 27. A detective will follow-up on the case.
  • A resident reported between 12:10 a.m. and 6 a.m. Aug. 28, someone had entered his residence on the 100 block of Westmanor Court SE and taken several items. The resident is unsure if the door leading into the garage was locked. This case is being investigated.
  • A resident came to police headquarters at 1:36 p.m. Aug. 28 to drop off ammunition for destruction.
  • A town employee reported at 10:28 a.m. Aug. 28 there was a snowman hanging from a tree with fake blood on it on the 300 block of Glyndon Street NE. The snowman was stuffed with beer cans where his lights were supposed to be. The town employee was able to free the snowman and took him to a place where he would be cared for properly.
  • A citizen found an Ohio driver’s license at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 300 block of Maple Avenue East and turned it into the police department. The license will be held until the owner can be contacted.
  • An officer detected signs of an impairment of a driver during a traffic stop at 2:06 a.m. Aug. 29 at Abbotsford Drive and Counsellor Drive NW. After failing to complete field sobriety tests, Daren Lee Grayson, 22, of Exart Terrace in Chantilly, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Grayson was transported to police headquarters for a breath analysis, then transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Grayson was also charged with driving on a suspended driver's license. He was held on a $2,500 bond.
  • An officer responded for a report of an injured person at 12:47 p.m. Aug. 29 at Capital Building Supply, 431 Mill Street NE. Upon obtaining the information of the individual, the officer found the subject was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Joseph Sergretto, 54, of Fredericksburg was arrested for telephone threats. He was released on his signature.
  • A resident on the 200 block of Park Terrace Court SE reported he was contacted by Federal Express and advised someone may be using his identity fraudulently at 12:44 p.m. Aug. 30. He was advised to contact the credit bureaus and verify if any accounts had been opened without his knowledge.
  • A resident reported between 6 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. Aug. 30 she and her ex-husband were having a disagreement over the custody agreement for their children on the 1300 Block of Ross Drive SW. The ex-husband advised he would be seeking the assistance of his attorney in the matter.
