Police Log: Police Investigate Prescription Fraud At Walgreen's

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vienna Police are investigating a case of prescription fraud at the Walgreen's at 225 Maple Avenue E.

An employee reported that before 6 p.m. Aug. 20, a woman entered the store and presented a fraudulent prescription.

While waiting for the prescription to be filled the woman shoplifted several items of clothing.

The woman left the store before officers arrived.

  • A citizen reported she gave a silver tea set to Beeckman Place at 126 Maple Avenue NE to sell on consignment. She checked with the store on several occasions and was told the set hadn't sold. She went to the store Aug. 19 to collect the set back, and the store owner told her the set had sold but he could not provide a bill of sale. Police explained the legal options available to the resident.
  • A resident of Talahi Road SE reported between Aug 13 and Aug 20, someone stole license plates from her car.
  • A building manager reported that between 7 p.m. Aug. 18and 5 a.m. Aug 19, their office building in the 300 Block of Maple Avenue NW had been spray painted with graffiti.
  • At 10:08 a.m. Aug. 19, a resident reported losing his wallet and its contents at the 7-11 at 537 Maple Ave W.
  • Police responded for a report of an assault between a mother and daughter at 10:14 a.m. Aug. 19. After a brief investigation, Police took the daughter to a medical facility for evaluation. The medical facility assessed the daughter and allowed her to return home.
  • A resident of Westbriar Drive NE reported someone had spray painted graffiti on a guardrail near her home between Aug. 19 and Aug. 22.
  • A car owner reported between 1:30 a.m. and 5:19 a.m. Aug. 20, his car window was broken. His car was legally parked on Plum Street.
  • After making a traffic stop around 4:16 a.m. Aug. 20 at the intersection of Glyndon Street and Maple Ave SE, Police detected marijuana inside the vehicle. Jesus Hernandez, 19, of Falls Church was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released after signing it.
  • A citizen told police she found a stray Jack Russell type dog wandering without purpose on the sidewalk around 6:46 p.m. Aug. 20 on Ware Street SW.  Attempts to contact the dog’s owner were not successful. Police took the dog to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter to await retrieval.
  • A citizen reported that sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 20 and 10 a.m. Aug. 21, a cell phone, some identification cards and credit cards were stolen from her car on Woodland Court NW. No signs of forced entry were evident. After notifying credit card companies the woman discovered the cars had already been used at various locations.
  • While conducting a traffic stop around 2:06 a.m. Aug. 21 at Maple Avenue and Branch Road, Police detected the presence of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. Devan R. Fitzsimmons, 18, of McLean, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released after signing it.
  • A neighbor on Ridge Road W reported around 10 p.m. Aug. 21 that a party was taking place at a home where the homeowner was out of town. Police responded and found the homeowner’s son had thrown a party. Once the son learned the police had been notified he fled along with the guests. The son is not supposed to be at the house.This case is still being investigated.
  • While Police were investigating that party, Police found an underage boy that had apparently consumed alcohol at the home. The boy was transported back to his home and released to his mother. Petitions will be obtained at a later date for the alcohol violation.
  • A resident on Kingsley Road reported between 11 p.m. Aug. 22 and 1 a.m. Aug. 23 an acquaintance showed up at his house demanding money. The person was a server at an area restaurant and felt the citizen had not tipped him enough money after serving him a meal about a month earlier. The resident closed the door on the subject after he began making threats. A short time later the complainant heard a loud noise and went outside to investigate, but found nothing unusual. The following morning the complainant noticed his car window had been smashed out, the vehicle had been scratched, and a hood ornament had been removed. The complainant attempted to contact the server but he was unable to reach him. This case is still being investigated.
  • Police responded to a child custody dispute around 2 p.m. Aug. 23 on Woodland Court NW after a father reported his wife picked up their daughter at a babysitter’s house in violation of an agreement. Police accompanied the father to his wife's house, and after a discussion, the daughter left with the father.It is believed the small girl was scared as a result of the earthquake and asked her mother to come get her.
  • Police responded to a home at 7:31 p.m. Aug 23 on Thelma Circle after citizens reported hearing calls for help. Police found a mother and daughter were having an argument regarding whether to eat yogurt out of the container or to put it in a bowl. Police contacted a medical facility and reviewed the case with them. The facility suggested providing an on scene solution for the two individuals.The individuals agreed to stay away from each other for the duration of the evening.
  • A business owner in the 300 Block of Maple Avenue W reported between 1 p.m. and 8:04 p.m. someone had spray painted graffiti on a wall and a window.
  • An employee at Cameo Coins and Collectibles, 444 Maple Avenue E., reported three customers had sold him gold coins at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 25 but had become suspicious about the manner in which the individuals stated they had come into possession of the coins. The subjects selling the coins were interviewed and released by officers and the coins were photographed. The photographs were then distributed to area law enforcement to see if they might be related to any criminal cases. This case is still being investigated.
  • A citizen reported two young children were walking near the road 2:23 p.m. Aug. 25 on Lawyers Road near Upham Place, NW. Police responded, located the children, and returned them to their home. Further investigation revealed the children had wandered off without the knowledge of the caregiver. Fairfax County Child Protective Services was contacted and they will follow up on this case.

ARRESTS

Around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 19, Police saw several people drinking alcohol near a creek on Patrick Street. As they approached them, the people fled on foot. Police located one of the people, Alfred Nolasco, 35, of Vienna and arrested him for drunk in public. He was taken the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

While conducting a traffic stop around 3:36 a.m. Aug. 21 on Maple Avenue NW, police detected signs of possible impairment. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests the driver, Fouzia Bencheikh, 24 of Oakton was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

While conducting a traffic stop around 5:41 a.m. Aug. 21 on Maple Avenue W, police detected signs of possible impairment. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests the driver,Eun Jung Shin, 21, of Centreville was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to Vienna Police Headquarters for analysis of her breath. hin was unable to properly provide a breath sample and was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. There she was formally charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test.

Police responded to Thelma Circle SW at 6:39 p.m. Aug. 25 for a report of an assault. Police found a daughter had assaulted her mother after being told she could no longer live there and that she would need to vacate the home. The daughter fled from the home prior to the arrival of officers. Police located the daughter a short time later near Meadow Lane Park and detained her. After additional investigation she was formally arrested for Domestic Assault and transported to
the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
