Police Log: Police Locate Suspect In Bad Check Case, Youth Trespass At Glyndon Park

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vienna Police successfully detained the suspect in a bad check case at Michel Rene salon reported last month.

On Sept. 9, an employee of the salon reported a customer came to the shop and purchased services and some goods, paying with a personal check. The check was then returned by the bank as unpayable, and,the salon could not reach the woman to seek another method of payment.

After investigating, police obtained a warrant for Barbara Lyn Brackett, 44, of Alexandria, charging her with issuing a bad check (felony).

Fairfax County Police detained Brackett with the warrant on Oct. 11. Vienna Police took custody of Brackett and transported her to the Fairfax County Adult
Detention Center. She was released on personal recognizance.

At 10:49 p.m. Oct. 7, Police found two juveniles inside Glyndon Park after dark. The individuals were released; police will prepare petitions charging them with trespassing at a later date.

Highlights from the Vienna Police Log, Oct. 7 to 14

  • Police responded to Holloway Court NE around noon Oct. 3 to investigate a possible animal hoarding situation. They found there were numerous animals living in the home, but, all were well cared for. There was no violation of law.
  • A woman reported around noon Oct. 6 she received a disturbing text message from a former boyfriend.
  • A dog was quarantined around noon Oct. 8 at its home on Council Drive NE after it bit someone at the Reston Town Center.
  • Police responded to a complaint of a dog barking around 8:20 p.m. Oct. 8 on Elmar Drive SE. Police contacted the owner, who said they would put an end to the noise. 
  • A man reported he saw someone removing a bag from his vehicle around 12:20 a.m. Oct. 9 on Patrick Street SW. When the man confronted the individual, he ran away.
  • A citizen on Park Street reported she received some unwanted laptops between Oct. 9 and 11. When she contacted her credit card company, she found her credit card had been used fraudulently to buy the computers. The woman also discovered whoever used her card to order the computers attempted to have them delivered to Chicago. Police are investigating the incident. 
  • A woman driving around 10:35 p.m. Oct. 9 down Maple Avenue E reported something hit her passenger's side window and broke it. Police were unable to locate the source of the object. 
  • A woman on Plum Street SW reported at 9:21 a.m. Oct. 10 she and her husband were arguing about money and the husband began breaking items inside the home in order to upset his wife, she said. Police responded and counseled the couple. 
  • At 10:39 a.m. Oct. 10, a citizen reported a small girl was playing alone at Vienna Baptist Church's playground. Police responded and took custody of the girl and tried to figure out where the girl lived without success. After bringing the girl to police headquarters, police discovered the girl and her family were playing soccer with other families. As they all departed, the girl’s mother thought that she had gone to play at the other family’s house and did not know the girl had been left behind.
  • An iPod was found around 4:56 p.m. Oct. 10 on West Street NW and turned in to police.
  • A resident of Upham Place NW reported at 9 a.m. Oct. 11 his neighbor's dog barks incessantly. Police spoke to the dog's owner and believes to have remedied the situation.
  • A man turned in a Virginia license plate he found outside a shopping area around noon Oct. 12 on Maple Avenue. Police discovered the plate belonged to a stolen vehicle from Prince William County.
  • A citizen brought a loaded handgun to the Vienna Police Headquarters around 2:29 pm. Oct. 13 because the citizen wanted it to be made safe. Police unloaded the handgun for the citizen. 

ARRESTS

While conducting a traffic stop around 12:33 a.m. Oct. 10 near the intersection of Lawyers Road and Sharon Lane NW, Police suspected the driver was impaired. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests, Hena Naghmi, 21, of Oakton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
