Police Log: Vienna Headquarters Notified Of Sexual Abuse Incident, Unlocked Vehicle Thefts Continue

A weekly listing of Police Highlights from the Vienna Police Department

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office notified Vienna Police this week about an alleged sexual abuse case that happened five years ago.

Loudoun County officials received the information during a recent interview with a 15-year-old girl. The exact location of the 2006 crime hasn't been determined. Vienna Police Officer Bill Murray said it isn't clear if victim was living in Vienna, and the identity of the suspect is unknown.

Police are investigating.

  • Police responded to a call from a woman on Maple Avenue West, who said she made contact with someone who expressed interest in her business.  After they became friends, the man wrote a loan check to the woman's business. A while later, the man told the woman he needed money for advertising. The woman wrote him a check for part of the large sum, and collected cash from friends to make up the difference, she said. After the man had the cash and deposited the check, he disappeared. The woman says she has no concrete evidence of the man's identity, and, the loan check he wrote did not go through. Police are investigating.
  • A man on East Street Northeast reported that he was missing a substantial amount of money from his wallet between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 21. He wasn't sure when or where the money went missing. Police are investigating the case.
  •  Around 10:30 a.m. on APril 22, a citizen found a knife in the parking lot of Cedar Lane Shopping Center. They turned it over to police, who put the knife in storage until it is collected by its owner.
  •  A Whole Foods employee called police just before 5 p.m. on April 22 to report a woman outside the store that was asking for money and bothering customers. After police responded and found she did not have any outstanding warrant, she left the area without resistance.
  • A resident of Park Street Northeast reported that his mailbox was vandalized sometime between 8 p.m. April 22 and 12:10 a.m. April 23. 
  • A resident of Kingsley Road SW reported that they could hear a loud argument between a man and a woman around 10 p.m. April 22. Police responded and found that an ex-girlfriend had come to her former boyfriend's house uninvited. She eventually forced her way inside the house. Police discovered the woman had just left the hospital, where she received treatment, and was dropped off at her former boyfriend's house. The woman left the house but declined an officer escort. The ex-boyfriend did not prosecute the woman for entering his home. The woman returned to the police station later in the evening with her mother, to report that the boyfriend had spit at her and kicked her during the incident earlier in the evening. Police explained the warrant obtainment process to the woman. 
  • A resident of Adelman Circle Southwest told police that someone entered her unlocked car and stole a GPS unit sometime between April 23 and 25. Police are investigating.
  • Around 11:30 a.m. April 23, Vienna Police responded to a report of a family argument on Plum Street Southwest. Police mediated, a resolution was reached and involved family members separated for the day. 
  • Police responded to a report of an argument between a husband and wife around 2 p.m. April 23 on Highland Street Northwest. The couple was fighting over the placement of a paper on the living room table. As the wife and daughter left the house, the husband threatened to harm himself and left shortly thereafter. Police found the husband in Petersen Lane Park and called medical backup. He was transported to a medical facility for evaluation, and then back to his home.
  • A Meadow Lane Southwest resident told police that someone entered her unlocked car between 5:30 p.m. April 24 and 6:30 a.m. April 25 and stole her GPS unit, along with some money. Police are investigating the case. 
  • A resident of Church Street NW reported that someone stole her daughter's unlocked bike from their home between 7:30 p.m. April 24 and 7:30 a.m. April 25. Police are investigating the case.
  • Between 8 p.m. April 24 and 8 a.m. April 25, a resident of Plum Street Southwest reported that someone stole money from her unlocked vehicle. Police are investigating the case.
  • Between 8 p.m. on April 24 and 5 p.m. April 25, a Courthouse Road Southwest resident reported someone entered her unlocked car and took an iPod and some money. Police are investigating the case.
  • A Gibson Drive Southwest resident told police that between 8 p.m. April 24 and 8 a.m. April 25, someone entered her unlocked car and rummaged through it but did not appear to take anything.
  • A Gibson Drive Southwest resident told police that between 10 p.m. April 24 and 8:30 a.m. April 25, someone stole her iPod from her unlocked car. Police are still investigating the case.
  • A Hillside Circle resident reported that someone had entered her unlocked car between 10 p.m. April 24 and 7:45 a.m. April 25. It didn't appear as if anything was missing, but during the same time, someone had also stolen an unlocked bicycle from underneath the home's carport. Police are investigating the case.
  • Sometime between 12:05 and 12:25 p.m. April 25, a resident reported that someone had stolen her son's unlocked bicycle outside the Patrick Henry Library. Police are investigating.
  • A Marjorie Lane resident  reported that someone entered his vehicle between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. April 27 and took an iPhone, wallet and some cash. The items were found on Park Street Southeast later that day. Police are investigating the case. 
  • A man on Shady Drive called police around 9:40 April 27 to report that he was arguing with his live-in girlfriend about allowing the girlfriend to hold the child. The girlfriend was also the mother of the child. He wanted her removed from the house. The girlfriend and child left the house to stay with a relative. 
  • A woman had her vehicle towed to a garage on Dominion Road Northeast on April 28. Around 1:50 p.m., she reported that the vehicle rolled away after it had been dropped off by the tow truck, and had gone over the W+OD trail before it came to rest in a wooded area. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS

  • During a traffic stop at 12:35 a.m. April 24, Police arrested Carlos Cruz Martinez, 36, of Germantown, Md., for driving while intoxicated, after he failed to complete several sobriety tests. He was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for a breath analysis, and then to the Fairfax  County Adult Detention Center.
  • A woman on Cedar Lane SE called Police around 2 a.m. April 24 to report her husband, who was intoxicated, had hit her. Police responded and arrested the husband for domestic assault and drunk in public.  He was then transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The woman did not require medical attention.
  • Police stopped a vehicle around 9 p.m. April 24 after a mobile license plate reader picked up a stolen license plate. As they approached the vehicle,  police noticed  a discarded syringe on the ground. Police found after further investigation that the passenger in the car was wanted for several outstanding petit larceny warrants. As police were arresting the passenger, Jeremy Drone, 21, of Centreville, Police noticed a second syringe on the ground. Police also arrested the driver, Nathan Rorls, 24, of Dale City, for driving on a revoked operator’s license and possession of stolen property. Police also discovered drug paraphernalia in the car before it was towed, and charged Rorls with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Rorls and Drone were taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held without bond.
  • Police issued Anthony Denny, 25, of Culpeper, a summons for soliciting without a license on Tapawingo Road SE on April 25. Denny was released after he signed the summons.
  • Police arrested Jose Soto, 29, of Vienna for drunk in public after Police found him lying in the sidewalk area of Cedar Lane Shopping Center. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
