POLICE LOG: Hit and Run with a Utility Pole and Other Incidents

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. If an arrest is mentioned, It does not indicate a conviction.

A driver of a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Windover Avenue at 6:39 p.m. on March 14 when she allegedly took her eyes off the road to adjust her radio at which time her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene of the crash. A citizen witnessed the crash and contacted the police department with a description of the fleeing vehicle. Vienna Police responded to the scene and were able to locate the vehicle involved in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with hit and run and failure to pay full time attention.

Separately, Patch reported Tuesday the teens involved in a milk spilling and slipping prank are being charged with multiple counts of destruction of property and disorderly conduct. Read more here.

  • A 20-year-old Vienna man was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana on John Marshall Road, NW on March 17 at 1:02 a.m. Police found the gun and marijuana during a traffic stop.
  • Vienna Police are investigated an alleged fraud between noon March 12 and 11 p.m. March 19. Police say a resident attempted to exchange two hundred dollar bills for smaller denominations but was informed the bills were counterfeit.
  • Vienna Police responded to a report of a lost child on March 14 at 6:07 p.m. and when they located the juvenile, she stated she stayed after school and took the wrong bus.
  • Resident reported individuals were setting off fireworks and making noise on Birch Street at 9:24 a.m. on March 15. Police found the three juveniles who admitted firing off the fireworks. The officer spoke with the parent of one of the juveniles and the remaining fireworks were turned over to the police for destruction.
  • A 27-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test in the 700 block of Courthouse Road, SW at 3:45 a.m. on March 16. The man was held at the Fairfax County Detention Center until he was sober.
  • Vienna Police responded to a home alarm on Cottage Street, SW at 6:59 p.m. on March 16. An officer found an open door to the residence but the home was ruled secure.
  • A 45-year-old Vienna man was charged with entering a property with intent to damage after he forced his way into a home at 1:15 a.m. on March 18. The alleged suspect approached a man in the parking lot and asked the victim for money. The victim told the alleged suspect he didn’t have any money. Moments later, the alleged suspect broke into the victim’s home and again asked for money.
  • Two Maryland men were charged with soliciting without a license on March 19 at 1:15 p.m. for soliciting for a meat packaging company along Ware Street, SW without the proper license.
  • A 25-year-old Vienna man wanted for failing to appear in court for reckless driving was picked up at his job by police and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on March 20. The man was held on a $5,000 bond.
  • Vienna Police investigated an alleged threat through text message on March 21. Police said the alleged victim received a text message from a friend warning him someone was going to his home to do him bodily harm. Police confirmed the text message but no one showed up to the home.
