Police Log: Woman Spots Man Trying to Steal Her Car

Vienna Police are looking for a man they say attempted to steal a woman's vehicle while she was inside her home.

A woman told police she saw a man attempted to steal her vehicle around 10:24 a.m. May 27 while it was parked outside her Wolftrap Road home. He was attempting to start the car when she saw him.

The woman yelled at the man and he fled.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black man in his 30s.

Police are still investigating the case

Other highlights from the log, May 25 to 31:

• A business owner reported between May 14 and 29, unknown subjects spray painted graffiti on his rooftop on Dominion Road NE. It is believed that the previous business owner allowed customers to spray paint his roof but that business has since closed.
• Police received a report at noon May 23 regarding a dog bite that had occurred in Vienna. His investigation revealed a subject was walking his dogs on Tazewell Road when two other dogs ran out from a house as he was passing by. The individual that was walking by was bitten by one of the dogs running out from the house. The individual suffered minor wounds. The offending dog was quarantined and police will follow up on this case.
• While conducting a traffic stop at 12:28 a.m. May 25 at Nutley Street and Marshall Road SW, police suspected the driver might be impaired. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests Jeehyun Moon, 34, of  Bristow, Virginia was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Moon was transported to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis. After the analysis she was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
• While conducting a traffic stop at 1:58 a.m. May 25 on Maple Ave E, police suspected the driver might be impaired. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests James A. Arsenault, 52, of Hoboken, New Jersey was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Arsenault refused to provide a breath sample and was then transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
  There he was formally charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test. He was held on $1000.00 bond.
• A juvenile told police at 8:30 a.m. May 25 a suspicious vehicle carrying three men was driving slowly by her on Plum Street SW and was making her feel uncomfortable. Police located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and discovered the three men were workers in search of an address on Plum Street. Further investigation revealed one of the men was wanted based upon two outstanding warrants. One was from Prince William County for failure to pay child support and another was from Fairfax County for a similar charge. Isaias de Jesus Flores Soriano, 30, of Vienna, was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was held there on $55,000.00 bond.
• A citizen reported that his girlfriend called him at 11:30 a.m.  May 25 and during the call an unknown subject grabbed the phone from her and made threats to the complainant.
• A citizen reported at 2:47 p.m. May 25 that two subjects in a van sell food to the general public as well as some construction workers while on Westwood Country Club property, 800 Maple Avenue NE. Police spoke to the management at the country club and they were asked to call the Vienna Police if they see the van return.
• An employee at the HOPE Center, 140 Park Street SE, reported at 6 p.m. May 25 a cat bit her while she held it. The cat was eventually euthanized as the result of a separate issue and will be tested for rabies. Police will follow up on this case.
• Police investigated a dog bite at noon May 26 on Troy Court. An investigation revealed a woman was bitten by her mother’s dog. The dog was quarantined and police will follow up on this case.
• A citizen reported at 12:10 p.m. May 26 two subjects had intimidated her into withdrawing funds from her credit union account at Northwest Federal Credit Union, 231 Maple Ave E. They have had contact with the woman on several occasions in the past and the woman has provided them with money. This case is still being investigated.
• A woman reported her parked vehicle was damaged between midnight and 10:30 a.m. May 27 on Ware Street SW.  It appears unknown subjects broke a passenger window out of the vehicle.
• During a traffic stop at 4:45 a.m. May 27 at Courthouse Road and Plum Street SW, police detected signs of possible driver impairment. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests, Anthony John Nelli, 20, of Dunn, North Carolina was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Mr. Nelli refused to provide a breath sample and was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. There he was formally charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, and driving on a suspended operator’s license. He was held on $15,00.00 bond.
• During the stop, police discovered two individuals in the vehicle were in possession of alcohol while being underage. Joseph Wentworth Cajou, 20, of Falls Church and Ainsly Richard King, 20, of Springfield were issued summonses for the violations. They were released after signing the summonses.
• Police discovered an apparently intoxicated male subject slumped over a flower box at 12:17 a.m. May 28 at the Cedar Lane Shopping Center, 262 Cedar Lane SE. Further investigation confirmed that he was intoxicated. Dany Figueroa, 29, of no fixed address was arrested for drunk in public and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
• A citizen reported a father and adult daughter were having a verbal argument about a dog at 9:57 a.m. May 28 on Thelma Circle SW. The woman wanted to take the dog and the father was not in favor of this arrangement. The dog belongs to the father and therefore the daughter left the residence without the animal.
• During the Viva!Vienna! festival at 1:17 p.m. May 28, a security worker reported an individual’s cell phone had been stolen from her lap near Dominion Road and Ayrhill Avenue NE. The subject was described as a Hispanic male, mid 20’s, wearing a yellow shirt. He fled from the area on foot. This case is still being investigated.
• A wife reported she found her deceased husband inside their home at 5:30 p.m. May 28. There do not appear to be any signs of foul play. A detective will follow up on this case.
• Sergeant Elias observed an individual consuming a beer at 11:33 p.m. May 28 near the Vienna Woods Swim Club, 900 Block DeSale Street SW.  Jose Gomez, 41, of Vienna was issued a summons for the violation. He was released after signing the summons.
• A woman reported some items had been boxed up and left in her driveway at 10 a.m. May 29. They were intended for a charity but the complainant believed other individuals had taken them. A bicycle in the same area was also taken but it was not intended to be for donation. This case is still being investigated.
• A 9-1-1 call was received at 10:16 a.m. May 29 in which the caller was heard to be screaming. Police investigation revealed an adult daughter had called and was in need of medical care. Fairfax County EMS responded and transported the daughter to an area hospital. She is expected to recover. No criminal activity was reported.
• A woman reported at 9:45 p.m. May 29 she and her roommate were involved in a verbal disagreement. At some point the argument became physical. After an investigation police arrested Sara Santos Guzman, 39, of Vienna for Assault. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held on a $1,000.00 bond.
• A town employee reported a subject had been staying in one of the restrooms at the Town Green for several nights, and was discovered sometime between 9 p.m. May 30 and 9:12 a.m. May 31. The individual was told not to continue with the act and banned from the property.
• A Nutley Street resident reported that after becoming involved in an argument with two other family members she told them to leave. They did so for a short period of time but then returned at 9:50 a.m. May 31. Police explained the homeowner would need to begin an eviction process with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office if she wished to evict the family members from her home.
