Police: Woman Charged in Prescription Fraud

Vienna Police located and arrested this week a woman who allegedly forged two prescriptions and tried to fill them at the Walgreens on Maple Avenue.

Katerina Markovik, 25, of Rockville, Md., was charged last week with forging and uttering a false prescription and attempting to obatain a controlled substance by forgery.

Police first responded to Walgreens, 226 Maple Avenue E, at 5:59 p.m. Feb. 5, after an employee reported a suspicious prescription request.

The employee said a woman arrived at the store and attempted to have two prescriptions filled, but when the employee contacted the prescribing doctor, the doctor said the prescriptions were forgeries, according to police.

On Feb. 9, officers identified the alleged suspect, Markovik, and contacted her. Markovik agreed to come to police headquarters for questioning. At the end of the interview, Markovik was taken to  the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where she was charged.

She was released from the center on her promise to appear in court, police said.

Her court date was set for March 12.
