Vienna Police: Juvenile Drives Car Into Ditch, 2 AM 'Ding and Dash,' Stolen Christmas Presents

Plus, "natural death" on Wilmar Place, suspect leads police on foot chase through Giant and gas siphoned from police car while officer checking on report of crime.

The most recent Vienna Police Department report contains information about a juvenile who was reportedly impaired and drove a car into a ditch, a resident who is being plagued by late-night "ding and dash" incidents and a woman whose Christmas presents were stolen from the trunk of her car.

Here's the crime rundown, courtesy of the Vienna Police Department:

Grand Larceny 
200 Block Church Street, NW 
Between Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. and Dec. 16 at 11:49 a.m.
An employee reported that several of her co-workers informed her that someone had taken money and other personal property while they were working. 

Petit Larceny 
American Cancer Society 
124 Park Street, SE 
Dec. 9 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. 
Sgt. Juelharte was at this location for a reported vandalism when she was approached by an employee who stated someone had siphoned the gasoline from her vehicle.

Dec. 10 8 a.m. 
An employee reported someone had smashed a side door to the building. The employee stated entry into the office had not been made. The employee stated another employee had the gasoline siphoned from his vehicle however that employee did not report that incident to the police. 

Grand Larceny 
900 Block Country Club Drive, NE 
Between Dec. 11 at 8:40 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 8:40 p.m. 
A resident reported that several Christmas presents had been taken from the trunk of her vehicle. She stated she was unsure when or where the items were taken or if the vehicle had been left unlocked.This case is being investigated. 

ArrestDrunk in Public
Radio Shack 
233 Maple Ave., West 
Dec. 13 12:48 a.m. 
Officer Digan was on patrol when he discovered an individual sliding his head and upper body across the glass window to the Radio Shack. Officer Digan approached the individual who stated he had been drinking Tequila and was unable to find his way home. Officer Digan arrested Mr. Kevin Cory Bean, 54, No Fixed Address, for Drunk in Public. Bean was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober. 

Domestic Dispute 
100 Block Cherry Street, SE 
Dec. 13 1:24 p.m. 
PFC Myers responded for the report of an argument between two men and a woman. However when he arrived he was informed the argument was between a husband and wife only. PFC Myers spoke with the husband and wife who stated that a verbal argument had taken place but had not become physical. The husband and wife agreed to leave the area separately to allow for calming down period. 

Arrest - Drunk in Public

Dec. 13, 6:24 p.m. 
An employee reported that a man had been lying on top of a table and appeared to be asleep. PFC Myers responded and verified that the man was indeed asleep on top of the table. After awakening the man from his slumber PFC Myers detected the strong odor of alcohol and cologne. PFC Myers arrested a 51-year old man of no fixed address for Drunk in Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober. 

Lost Property  
Giant Food Store 
359 Maple Ave., East 
Between Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 11:30 a.m. 
A customer stated she had lost her wallet. She stated she was unaware when or where she lost the wallet and did not realize it was missing until she attempted to pay for her groceries. 

Grand Larceny 
Giant Food Store 
359 Maple Avenue, East 
Dec. 14 between 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. 
A citizen reported that he had accidentally left his purse at the checkout register after purchasing his groceries. He stated when he returned to retrieve his purse it was gone. This case is being investigated. 

Natural Death 
100 Block Wilmar Place, NW 
Dec. 14 7:30 p.m. 
PFC Vazquez responded at the request of a resident to check on the welfare of his sister-in-law. Upon his arrival PFC Vazquez located the sister-in-law deceased in the living room. A Detective will follow up with this case. 

Driving While Intoxicated 
Glyndon Street at Williams Avenue, SE 
Dec. 15 12:08 a.m. 
Officer Tracy was on patrol and attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the vehicle crashed into a ditch and became disabled. After ensuring that the driver of the vehicle, a juvenile, had not sustained any injuries from the crash Officer Tracy detected the signs of possible impairment. After failing to successfully complete several field sobriety tests Officer Tracy contacted the juvenile’s mother who responded to the Vienna Police Station and took her son home. This case is being investigated. 

Vandalism 
500 Block Walker Street, SW 
Dec. 15 2 a.m. 
A resident has reported that he had been to victim of several “Ding and Dash” incidents. The last incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 15, at approximately 2 a.m. The resident stated that during one of the incidents the individual knocked on his storm door causing the damage to the screen. The resident stated neighbors had informed him of similar incidents. 

Illegal Dumping
100 Block Church Street, NW 
December 15 11:49 a.m. 
An employee reported that on several occasions her husband had dropped off boxes of her personal property in front of a business. She stated her employer was concerned with the husband’s behavior but did not wish to pursue charges. Officer Herrera contacted the husband and informed him that if he did not cease dumping the items in front of the store he would be charged with illegal dumping. He agreed to comply and cease the behavior. 

Arrest – Burglary/Domestic Assault 
Hine Street, SE 
Dec. 15 1:19 p.m. 
A resident reported that her son had entered her home without her permission and assaulted her after she confronted him in her front yard. Officer Herrera responded and arrested the son for Burglary and Domestic Assault. 
The son was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond. 

Arrest – Elude Police 
Hine Street at Berry Street, SE 
Dec. 15 1:33 p.m. 
Sgt. Juelharte was on patrol when she attempted to conduct a traffic stop. After initiating her emergency equipment the driver of the vehicle accelerated in an attempt to elude her. After a short pursuit the driver stopped his vehicle, exited and fled on foot with Sgt. Juelharte and PFC Myers in close pursuit. 

Sgt. Juelharte along with PFC Myers and Officer Herrera pursued the individual, on foot, through the Giant Shopping Center where he was eventually apprehended. Officer Herrera arrested a 30-year old male resident of Vienna for Eluding Police. Officer Herrera transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Speed to Elude and was held without bond. 

Vandalism 
300 Block Maple Avenue, East 
Dec. 15 4 p.m. 
A citizen reported that after shopping he returned to his vehicle to find that someone had taken a permanent marker and drawn a line around his vehicle. 

Petit Larceny
200 Block Church Street, NE 
Between Dec. 16 at 3:30 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 9:30 a.m. 
A resident reported that someone had entered his unlocked vehicle and had taken an undetermined amount of loose change. He stated nothing else had been taken from the vehicle. 

Found Property 
Vienna Police Department 
215 Center Street, South 
Dec. 16 5:50 p.m. 
An unknown citizen responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a purse she had found in the Tysons Corner area. Detective Ruddy was able to identify and contact the owner who responded to the police station and claimed her property. 

Suspicious Event
300 Block Owaissa Road, SE 
Dec. 17 12:30 a.m. 
Officer Reedy responded for the report of a female who may have needed medical assistance. Upon his arrival he was met by members of the Fairfax County Rescue Department. Rescue personnel evaluated the girl who refused treatment or to be transported to a hospital.

Dec. 17 1:03 p.m. 
Officer Digan responded to assist a resident with his daughter who was in need of medical attention. 

Grand Larceny 
300 Block Maple Avenue, East 
Between Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 4:30 p.m. 
An employee reported that several items of office furniture and office supplies had been going missing from his office. This case is being investigated. 

Petit Larceny  
300 Block Niblick Drive, SE 
Between Dec. 17 at 11 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 6:15 a.m. 
A resident reported that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and had taken an undetermined amount of loose change. 

Fraud 
300 Block Church Street, NE 
Dec. 18 8:09 a.m. 
A resident reported that after reviewing her credit report she discovered that someone had used her identifying information to obtain a residence in Arizona without her knowledge. The Arizona Department of Public Service will investigate this case. 

Suspicious Event  
400 Block Knoll Street, NW 
Dec. 18 4:08 p.m. 
A resident reported that a tree service company had pulled up in front of a vacant property and two workers entered the house. MPO Simon responded and checked the inside of the house and found it to be empty. The resident stated that this was the second time unknown individuals had been in the home. 

Arrest – Drunk in Public 
Fresh Market 
150 Branch Road, SE 
Dec. 18 4:38 p.m. 
An employee reported that an individual had been sitting at a table outside the Fresh Market. Officer Herrera responded and after speaking with the individual he determined that he was intoxicated. Officer Herrera arrested a 48-year-old male of no fixed address, for Drunk in Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober. 

Medical Case
200 Block Locust Street, SE 
Dec. 19 1:24 a.m. 
Officer Tracy responded for the report of a resident who was in need of medical assistance. Upon his arrival Officer Tracy was able to convince the resident to seek medical treatment at an area hospital. 

Suspicious Event
300 Block Maple Avenue, West 
Dec. 19 1:37 p.m. 
A citizen reported that she was being driven to work by her son when they encountered a driver of another vehicle who ran a stop sign and nearly struck her vehicle. The woman approached the other driver and an argument ensued during which the driver became irate and cursed at the woman. The irate driver left the area prior to the arrival of the police.
