Fairfax County investigators believe the 16-year-old McLean High School student found dead last month used illegal narcotics not long before she died — and that she was with three adults in the hours before her death who realized she needed medical attention but did not seek it, according to news reports.
Emylee Lonczak went out on Aug. 21 with two adult men, according to the Washington Post.
They traveled out of state and bought an unspecified illegal narcotic from a third man, before the entire group used the drug, the Post reported, citing a search warrant.
Early the next morning, the group returned to Fairfax County. They realized Lonczak needed medical attention, but they did nothing about it, according to the Post.
Fairfax County police are searching four Facebook accounts, looking for photos or written clues as to what happened the night of Lonczak's death, according to NBC4.
The state medical examiner's office in Manassas, which serves all of Northern Virginia, has not yet determined the cause and manner of Lonczak's death.
Police found Lonczak's body in some bushes in the 8200 block of Madrillon Estates Drive on Aug. 23.
Investigators initially said the girl had been reported as a runaway, but later said that she was last seen in the company of known individuals.
Lonczak would have been a junior at McLean High School this year.
