Sterling Man Charged With Construction Fraud

Man wanted in Vienna for failure to complete job after receiving $1,800 payment

A Sterling man was arrested last week after he turned himself in at the Vienna Police Department for construction fraud.

Daniel W. Jamison, 32, of Sterling, Va., was wanted in Vienna for "failure to perform work after advancing money greater than $200," for a job in which he received an $1,800 advance but never followed through.

After taking Jamison to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Feb.11, Vienna Police learned there were also three Fairfax County warrants on Jamison's file, which charged him with not having a contractor's license.

All four warrants were carried out, and Jamison was held on a $4,000 bond.

Vienna Police Officer Bill Murray said police believe Jamison was acting as the owner and general contractor of "DC Kitchens and Baths."

Murray said police believe there are several incidents linked to Jamison dating back to March 2010. Police were able to obtain a criminal warrant for this specific incident because the payment Jamison received far exceeded the $200 required to classify the act as a felony. There are several other jobs for which Jamison received less than that, which will be pursued as civil cases, Murray said.

"We want to get the information out to the public in case there are more victims," Murray said.

Residents with more information about the case should call Detective Sergeant Jim Wickes at 703-255-6394.
