Update: Tysons Carjacker Arrested Following Chase, McLean Attempted Bank Robbery

Baltimore County police believe 'Blond Bandit' is also responsible for an attempted carjacking Thanksgiving Day

UPDATE 5 p.m.: An employee of the Sherwin Williams paint store in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center thought it a little strange when he saw a young woman running from the BB&T bank a yards feet away shortly after 1 p.m.

She jumped in a car. Took a right turn on Dominion Drive driving North. Then he heard the bank alarm sound. He returned to the store. Moments later the police cars started arriving,

"I saw her running out of the bank ... I was shocked to see someone running out of the bank," he said.

Before long about 10 police cars had arrived, he said.

Maggie Wang, co-owner of the China Kingdom restaurant next door, said "We saw the police cars one by one come in. They put up the yellow tape and more police came," she said. Then the TV trucks.

"It was a busy time," she said, so she went back to serving her customers. It was about 1:20 p.m., she said.

A sign in the bank window said it was temporarily closed and asked customers to use other BB&T banks in the area.

This same bank was robbed in December 2008. Police officers chased the suspected robber and shot and killed him in a confrontation.

UPDATE 3:02 pm: Fairfax County Police added these details:Stephanie Schwab has been apprehended in Maryland following a bank robbery attempt of the BB&T 6220 Old Dominion Dr. This is the bank in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center near Kirby Road.

UPDATE 2:10 p.m. Fairfax County police have confirmed a WTOP Radio report that the so-called "Blond Bandit" was arrested following a chase after she was involved in a bank robbery in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean about 1 p.m.

WTOP reported that Stephanie Lynn Schwab, 26, was caught Wednesday after a police chase around the Beltway that went from Virginia into Maryland, according to Fairfax County Police. Police say they responded to a robbery at a BB&T bank in McLean just before 1 p.m.

Baltimore County police believe the suspect, 26-year-old Stephanie Lynn Schwab, of Manassas, tried to steal a car at a Shopper's Food Warehouse in Baltimore County, according to the Huffington Post.

Police say Schawb, who the Huffington Post says has earned the nickname 'Blond Bandit' in the D.C. area, robbed a bank in Prince William County Nov. 18 before carjacking a 59-year-old Fairfax woman Nov. 19 at the Tysons Galleria Mall.

Fairfax County Police have also connected Schwab to a bank robbery
