Vienna Police officers were among the thousands of law enforcement officers this week who ran across Virginia to help carry the Virginia Special Olympics Flame of Hope to the games in Richmond, Virginia.

Now in its 27th year, the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised more than $14 million for Special Olympians in Virginia. More than 2,000 officers completed the run this year.

On Thursday, Vienna officers completed their leg. On Friday, the torch will entered the University of Richmond Robins Center and officially opened the 2012 Summer Special Olympic Games.
