Vienna Police Log: Student Threatens Employee at Cedar Lane

An employee was allegedly threatened last week by a student at the Cedar Lane School.

The employee at the 101 Cedar Lane SE, reported at 2:23 p.m. Feb. 8 a student had threatened her.

The student left the area before police could get to the scene. School personnel will handle the case.

An employee of the Bank of America, 235 Maple Avenue W, reported when she arrived at work at 8:25 a.m. Feb. 11 she noticed a woman standing outside the bank, who appeared to be same woman involved in another robbery at a different Bank of America location. 

The suspect did not enter the bank, and left before police could arrive.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log through Feb. 14 :

A man reported at 7:45 a.m. Dec. 26 someone had taken money from his wife's credit union account at Navy Federal Credit Union. Police are investigating the case. 

A woman reported at 9:29 p.m. Feb. 7 she was concerned about the relationship her daughter had with a friend. The incident does not require the assistance of the police department and will be handled by the parents, police said.

A woman reported at 2:09 a.m. Feb. 8 she and her brother had a heated argument on Niblick Drive SE. The sister claimed her brother hit her, but police observed no signs an assault had occurred. The brother claimed his sister "attempted to hit him and he dodged the punch." Their mother backed up the son's claim.  The siblings agreed to separate to avoid further fighting.

A woman reported at 2:46 p.m. Feb. 8 she and her son had been involved in a heated argument, but it never turned physical. Police said the mother and son agreed to separate and cease arguing.

A woman reported at 3:27 p.m. Feb. 8 she was walking near Adahi Road and Glyndon Street SE when she noticed someone was following her. The woman called her grandfather, and after she began talking to him, the suspect fled the area.  Before calling the police, the woman and her grandfather returned to the area to search for the suspect but were unsuccessful.

A woman reported at 12:44 a.m. Feb. 10 she and her son had been involved in a heatedd arguement on Cottage Street SW, but it hadn't turned physical. The son agreed to go to his room for the rest of the evening.

Police responded at 7:11 p.m. Feb. 11 to a report of a man who had been assaulted on Cedar Lane. But when officers arrived, the injured victim would not cooperate nor provide any information about his assailant. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Vienna Police received a request at 11:44 a.m. Feb. 12 to assist Fairfax County police in locating a resident wanted on a failure to appear warrant. Vienna Police located and arrested Richard Paez, 19, of Vienna, for failure to appear on an original charge of Grand Larceny. Paez is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

A resident reported at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 12 someone had carved their name in the wet cement of his sidewalk on Elm Street. 

A resident reported at 12:34 a.m. Feb. 13 he and one of his roommates were in a heated argument that turned physical on Cedar Lane. Police responded and interviewed both roommates and several witnesses,  all of whom said "the argument and the physical altercation appeared to be a mutual situation." Police gave both roommates information on the warrant process should they decide to pursue charges, and the roommates agreed to separate to allow for a cooling off period.

A man reported at 10:08 a.m. Feb. 13 he and his brother had gotten into a verbal argument on Orchard Street NW, but the argument never turned physical. The brother agreed to leave to avoid any further disputes.

A woman reported at 4:18 p.m. Feb. 13 she had been receiving harassing telephone calls from an internet scam number. Police advised her to have the number blocked by the telephone company.

A resident reported at 2:41 p.m. Feb. 14 a raccoon who appeared to be sick was in his backyard. The town's animal control officer responded and trapped the animal, then  determined the raccoon could not be saved.

A woman reported between 4 and 5:39 p.m. Feb. 14, she left her purse in her unlocked car while she was shopping at CVS, 337 Maple Avenue E. When she returned to her vehicle, she discovered someone had entered the vehicle and taken her purse. Police remind citizens to remove "all valuables from an unattended vehicle and most importantly, lock the vehicle doors."

An employee reported finding two syringes at 5:07 p.m. Feb. 14 in a parking lot on Beulah Road NE. Police collected the syringes which were taken to the police station to be destroyed.
