Woman Robbed At Gunpoint On Cottage Street

Police still searching for male suspect in Tuesday night incident

Fairfax County police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint Tuesday night as she walked to her car from the Dunn Loring Metro Station.

The woman was walking to her car, parked on Cottage Street, around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. According to preliminary police reports, the woman was near the intersection of Cottage and Marymount Lane when a man approached her and held her at gunpoint before taking her purse and fleeing.

Fairfax County police officers responded to the scene, along with a helicopter and K-9 unit, in an attempt to track the suspect. They were unsuccessful.

Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said initial description of the suspect indicated he was a Hispanic male with brown hair, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt.

She said anyone who may have seen the suspect or noticed something suspicious in the area at that time should call the Fairfax County Police Department at 703-691-2131.
