Construction Workers Protest Congressman Frank Wolf at Press Conference

Wolf asks WMAA to reverse decision on underground Dulles station

Congressman Frank Wolf was met with protest as he spoke about Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority's decision on an underground station at Dulles Airport.

Wolf asked MWAA to reverse its decision, which Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova said earlier this month

The board has said the placement would be more accessible for travelers, despite the potential increase in costs.

On Monday, to the chants and shouts of protestors, Wolf urged MWAA to "abandon its plan to subject contracts for Phase 2 of the project to a Project Labor Agreement." The PLA will require construction contracts to be awarded to unionized firms.

The agreement ensures fair wages and health care for workers and requires workers to be skilled and trained. Dozens of area construction workers came to protest that they deserve fair wages. According to Laborers’ International Union of North America Mid-Atlantic, "the community is better served by jobs that provide family-supporting wages."
