Dela Rosa Scheduled for Sentencing Friday

Grandmother was found guilty of first degree murder in October

A Fairfax woman who was found guilty last fall of murdering her granddaughter will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Friday in Fairfax County Circuit Court

Carmela dela Rosa that connected a multi-level parking garage to the food court at Tysons Corner Center mall on Nov. 29, 2010. The drop was approximately 44 feet. The child, her granddaughter, died from her injuries the following morning.

The jury spared her from serving life in prison and instead On Friday, a circuit court judge could reduce that term to as few as 20 years. The 35-year sentence set by the jury cannot be increased.
