Public Hearing On Water, Sewer, Property Tax Rates Set For Tonight

Town Council welcomes public input on proposed FY 11-12 rates

Residents will have a chance to give input on the Town of Vienna's proposed water, sewer and property tax rates at an 8 p.m. public hearing Monday at Town Hall.

The proposed fiscal year 2011-12 budget includes a $0.15  water rate decrease per 1,000 gallons. The rate would decrease from $3.99 to $3.84 per 1,000 gallons for in-town customers, and from $4.37 to $4.22 for out of town customers, according to town documents.

The proposed budget has set sewer rates at $5.73 per 1,000 gallons, a $0.50 increase. Based on a quarterly usage of 19,000 gallons, the average Vienna customer's bill would increase annually by $26.60, according to town documents.

The average Vienna homeowners property tax bill would increase about $43.59 under the proposed budget, which set the tax rate at 24.35 cents per $100 of assessed value. The FY 10-11 tax rate is 24.48 cents per $100 of assessed value, according to town documents.
