Town Council To Choose Consultant For Town Manager Search
Council will also review zoning amendment at Jan. 10 meeting
Town Council will select a consultant to guide the town's Town Manager search during a special meeting Jan. 10.
The meeting will take place at the start of the council's regular work session at 8 p.m.

Schoeberlein will remain on board throughout the spring, including for the town's budget process. A mid-year budget review is on the agenda for the town's regular work session Jan. 10.
During Monday's meeting, Town Council also set a public hearing Feb. 28 for a zoning amendment that would change the way the town measures buildings.

Currently, the height of houses and buildings -- limited at 35 feet -- is measured from the average elevation at the front of the building to the highest point of the roof.
The proposed amendment would measure the height of the building from the finished lot grade, "calculated as the vertical mid-point between the highest and lowest elevation points along the front set-back line."
The amendment also redefines the terms "building height," finished lot grade" and "pre-existing lot grade," and also puts a three-foot limit on pre- to post- lot grading for single family homes.
The town's planning and zoning commission held three public hearings on the amendment between October and December, and produced several charts and diagrams that Town Council will review at its Feb. 14 work session.
"This should be an evolutionary change rather than a complete rewrite," Town Attorny Steve Briglia said. "If you go to a completely different method, you could have some nasty, unintended consequences."
"I wouldn't rush into this," added Planning and Zoning director Greg Hembree.
