Vienna Town Council Appoints Laurie DiRocco as Mayor

DiRocco will fulfill the unexpired term of the late Mayor M. Jane Seeman, who passed away in late February after a year-long battle with lung cancer.

The Vienna Town Council announced the appointment of Councilmember Laurie DiRocco as Mayor during its Monday Town Council meeting.  

DiRocco will fulfill the unexpired term of the late Mayor M. Jane Seeman, who passed away in late February after a year-long battle with lung cancer. 

Since Mayor Seeman’s passing, the Town Council had 45 days to appoint an individual to fulfill her unexpired term, which will end on June 30.

During that time period, Vice-Mayor Carey Sienicki has served in the Mayor’s capacity.

DiRocco will be officially sworn in as Mayor on Tuesday.  DiRocco has been a resident of Vienna since 1995 and was first elected to Town Council in 2009, and re-elected in 2011 and 2013.
