Vienna Town Council Candidates Talk Bus Lines [Video]

The first of several series of video clips on town issues ahead of the 2013 elections.

The Vienna Town Council elections, the town's first contested race since 2011, are just more than a week away.

Incumbents Laurie DiRocco, Carey Sienicki and Howard Springsteen are all running again, along with newcomer Ryan Thomas, a 32-year-old Certified Public Accountant who has lived in town since 2012.

All candidates fielded two hours worth of questions from residents last week at a forum put on by the Northeast Vienna Citizens Association (NEVCA).

This week, Patch will run video clips of the candidates talking about local issues, from bus lines and political leanings  to Tysons development and road maintenance.

Today: Many residents at last week's forum were concerned about bus routes intended to give residents access to Metro Stations on the future Silver Line.

which would go through Vienna, has gotten mixed support from constituents, one of whom asked the question: "What is your opinion on bus routes going through Vienna and how do you believe it will impact the Town of Vienna?"

All candidates, as articulated by candidate Howard Springsteen felt "at some point we will need a bus through the Town of Vienna," on some level.

The question remains how to achieve that.

Elections are set for May 7; all voters will cast ballots at the community center. Voters can also vote absentee or absentee in-person.
