Vienna Town Council Members, Mayor Sworn In

Retiring Councilmember Laurie Cole was recognized for her long dedication and commitment to the community

It's official. Newly elected Councilmembers Pasha M. Majdi and Linda Jane Colbert were joined by incumbent Councilmember Edythe Frankel Kelleher and Mayor Laurie A. DiRocco in taking the oath of office this week in Vienna.

All were chosen to serve in the May 6 Town election for two-year terms that will take effect July 1.

At their regularly scheduled meeting following the swearing-in ceremony, the Town Council appointed Pasha M. Majdi to fulfill the unexpired term of Councilmember Michael Polychrones, which will end June 30. After serving the remaining two weeks of Polychrones term, Majdi will assume the two-year term he was elected to on May 6.

At the same meeting, retiring Councilmember Laurie Cole was recognized for her long dedication and commitment to the community. Mayor DiRocco praised Cole for her “attention to detail” and independent voice as a public servant. Cole has served on the Town Council since 2002.

Prior to being elected to the Council, Cole held positions on the Board of Zoning and Appeals from 2000 to 2002, the Planning Commission as member and chair from 1996 to 2000, the Sidewalk Committee in 1998 and the Beautification Commission as member and chair from 1994 to 1996.  Cole’s term will conclude on June 30, 2014.
