Who's On The Ballot
There's only one race on the ballot in Vienna on Tuesday – none of Vienna's state or house representatives will have to run in primaries this year.
Fairfax County Sheriff
Two Republicans, “Wes” Kammerer and William Cooper, are facing off in the Aug. 23 primary. The winner will face current Sheriff Stan Barry in November.

Virginia is an open primary state, which means voters can vote in either party's primary. The only restriction is voters may not vote in more than one party's primary on the same election day, but that won't be a problem for Vienna voters Tuesday because only one race will appear on the ballot.
Absentee Voting
Absentee voting started in July. Those who wished to vote through absentee in person had to have done so by Saturday, Aug. 20. Absentee ballots must be received by the elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23. Complete information on absentee voting is available on the Fairfax County government website.
