Bisson Signs With GMU

Madison lacrosse player will join the Patriots next fall

Madison High School senior Megan Bisson committed last week to spend the next four years playing lacrosse Divison I Lacrosse at George Mason University.

For Bisson, a captain for the Madison team, it was a dream come true, but one that didn't seem possible just a year ago.

Bisson had knee surgery during her sophomore year, a crucial recruiting period for high school athletes.

She missed that summer and fall season, but worked to be ready for the spring season and helped lead the Warhawks to the Virginia State Championship.

"She considers herself extremely fortunate to be in a position to attend a university with a great academic reputation and play college lacrosse with a fantastic team," said Ana Bisson, her mother.

At the signing ceremony, she invited a number of adults who helped her reach the milestone -- including Dr. Vitek, her knee surgeoun, and Pat McCloskey, who the girls lacrosse team trainer who helped her with her rehab.

She'll be a Patriot next year, but for now, Bisson is preparing for her last season as a Warhawk under coach Amanda Counts.
