Broken Air Conditioning Leads To Early Release At Madison High School

Students will leave school later this morning

Update 1:40 p.m.: A weekend power outage is to blame for the broken air conditioning Tuesday at Madison High School.

The outage shorted a controller on the school's energy management system, said Assistant Principal Yusef Azimi, and disabled air conditioning units in more than half of the building.

Air conditioning units in the cafeteria, gymnasium and foreign language and math wings began to go down early this morning, he said.

The air conditioning is still not functionining. It's unclear whether the outage will affect Wednesday's school operations, Azimi said, but parents should look out for Keep in Touch notifications and on the Madison High School website for information as the day continues.

10:56 a.m.: James Madison High School administrators called an early release for all students on Tuesday beacuse the building's air conditioning was not working.

All students will be released at 11:15 a.m., a school employee said.

The employee said that the school was working to repair the air conditioning as quickly as possible.
