For Board Members, End Of A Chapter

Six people will step down from the Fairfax County School Board on Dec. 31

As 2011 comes to a close, half of the Fairfax County School Board will step down from their seats  -- the largest turnover the body has seen since 2003.

Terms for the six members end Dec. 31. For some, it marks the end of a single term in office; for others, it marks the end of more than a decade and a half of service.

Patch sat down with each of the departing members to talk about their tenure, goals they accomplished and areas in which they fell short, and what issues the county will face as a new board moves forward.
