Madison High Students Nominated for Cappies for Work on 'The Music Man'

Drama awards program takes place Sunday at the Kennedy Center.

Students who worked on James Madison High School's production of "The Music Man" this year have been recognized for their efforts, with "Cappy" nominations in several categories.

The awards gala for the Cappies is coming up this weekend on Sunday at the Kennedy Center.

Students received nominations in eight categories:

  • Paige Cilluffo was nominated in the Comic Actress category.
  • Ashton Schaffer was nominated in the Male Vocalist category.
  • Shannon Roux was nominated in the Female Dancer category.
  • Neal Going was nominated in the Male Dancer category.
  • Katie Allison, Shannon Roux were nominated in the Choreography category.
  • Shannon Finney, Samira Pakmehr were nominated in the Costumes category.
  • Allison Brandmark, Anna East, Will Laney were nominated in the Stage Crew category.
  • James Madison Pit Orchetra were nominated in the Orchestra category.
The Cappies aka "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews.

At the end of the year, the student critics vote for awards that are presented at the formal Cappies Gala.
