Madison Musicians Earn All-District Honors
Warhawks among the best represented in regional band this month.
Twenty-five musicians from Madison High School were selected for this year's All District Band.
All District Bands honors were awarded to students after a competitive audition.
The Madison students joined others from 14 other Arlington and Fairfax County high schools last weekend for the All District band event in Arlington.

Madison was among those high schools who had the most students selected for the band this year, along with Langley, Herndon and
McLean High School was the best represented, with 66 students chosen for the honor.

The Symphonic Band, conducted by Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Assistant Dean in the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green University, presented a program including The Liberty Bell (Sousa) and Scenes from “The Louvre” (Dello Joio).
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mr. Richard Floyd, the Texas State Director of Music, presented a program including A Bernstein Trilogy (Bernstein) and a new composition by John Mackey titled Sheltering Sky.
Some of the students selected will go on to audition for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA)'s All-State band. Auditions are held Feb. 23 at James Madison University.
