Madison Student-Athletes Spruce Up Vienna

Students, parents participate in inaugural Community Service Day

More than 350 student-athletes from James Madison High School swept through Vienna on Sept. 22 to clean up and beautify several of the town's major parks.

The Madison Athletic Department's first "Community Service Day" was a way for athletes, coaches, parents and families to join together and give back to their community.

After gathering at Madison High School in the morning, participants were deployed to their clean-up destinations. After several hours of raking, hauling, digging, mulching, and picking up and bagging trash, crews returned to Madison for a cookout and social.
