Save the Date: FCPS Superintendent Listening Tour

Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Karen K. Garza will be visiting each county district this fall to hear from parents and community members.

Parents, students, employees and community members are invited to share their thoughts and ideas about the Fairfax County Public School during the Superintendent Listening Tour this fall.

The event in Vienna is scheduled for Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. at Kilmer Middle School, 8100 Wolftrap Road. Other times and dates are listed below for parents who cannot attend the Kilmer event.

According to an FCPS news release, more winter dates for the superintendent listening tour will be announced in January.

Garza joined FCPS this summer, moving to Virginia from Lubbock, Texas. When Garza was sworn in, she said, "To our stakeholders, our employees, our parents and our business and community partners, I pledge to be responsive and accountable to all Fairfax County schools stakeholders."
Garza also said she planned to be "very visible," noting the best part of her day was when she was able to be out in schools and classrooms.

"Garza will be visiting every magisterial district with Fairfax County School Board members to hear attendees’ concerns and questions about school issues and priorities," states the news release. "She also will ask meeting participants to provide their feedback to questions that will be used to develop a Portrait of a Graduate that will provide a framework for a long-range strategic plan for FCPS."
